A most enjoyable evening with the Portland Bay Rotary Club

Last Saturday evening I had the pleasure of being invited to speak at the handover ceremony and dinner for the Portland Bay Rotary Club, where outgoing President Merle Menzel handed over the reins for the next 12 months to Gordon Page.

Gordon and his army of volunteers from the Friends of the Great South West Walk, provided the recent sandbagging job at Nobles Rocks with a major boost by being some of our most committed volunteers. So when Gordon asked me to speak about the project at the event last Saturday, I was delighted to oblige and share the latest news on the project with this diverse and interesting group of people. To top off proceedings, little did I know my speaker’s gift would be presented uniquely, by being gift wrapped in…. you guessed it,  a sandbag – a very humorous touch – thanks Gordon!

With some major practical building projects to tackle over the next 12 months, it appears that the Portland Bay Rotary Club certainly have the right man at the helm! Congratulations Gordon, and we look forward to working with you in your capacity with both groups over the months ahead.
