Coorong and Lakes Environment Forum

Coorong and Lakes Environment Forum

To celebrate World Wetlands Day, the Lakes Hub, DEWNR and the Alexandrina Council are hosting the ‘Coorong and Lower Lakes Environment Forum’ on Friday 30th January 2015. The re-commencement of dredging at the Murray mouth highlights the many issues presently facing this iconic region. In terms of threatened fish, our work has shown that despite reintroductions (over 2011-2013), some species such as Yarra pygmy perch, southern pygmy perch, have not recovered to sustainable numbers and remain at high risk of localised extinction (see here).

The forum will be a good opportunity to hear from scientists, managers and members of the community – for more information, see here.

Cheers

Nick
