Mount Burr Swamp Smooth Frog Survey

Mount Burr Swamp Smooth Frog Survey

‘Cra-a-a-a-a-a-a-ck, cra-a-ack, cra-a-ack’.

This is the sound you will be listening for if you come on our Smooth Frog survey at Mount Burr Swamp. Frogs are a great indicator of environmental quality. We want to find out where they’re living around the swamp, and these rare little amphibians call in May.

The scientific name, Geocrinia laevis tells you a bit about the species: geo – they live in the dirt, crinia – describes their little froggy toes (which are separate without webbing), and laevis – smooth.

Everyone welcome – family-friendly activity. A BBQ dinner will be provided – please let us know of any dietary requirements.

Where: Mount Burr Swamp, 305 Kilsby Lane, Mount McIntyre

When: 4-8pm, Wednesday 22nd May 2019

Bring: Torch, gumboots/boots, weather-appropriate clothing, water

To RSVP or for more information, please email Kimberley, call the Mount Gambier office on 08 8797 8596 or check out our event on Facebook
