NGT Nursery bids farewell to Yvonne

After two and a half years of overseeing production in our indigenous plant nursery, nursery manager Yvonne Riley finished up with us last week. Yvonne initially joined the nursery team as an intern in 2013, and took on other roles with NGT such as open day bus driver and botanical illustration teacher, before taking over nursery management in June 2014.

Over the past couple of years, Yvonne has put an incredible amount of dedication and attention to detail into producing high quality seedlings for both external and NGT revegetation projects, as well as the installation of seven native plant display gardens around the South East and south-western Victoria.

At a farewell dinner held in honour of Yvonne last Thursday she told us how when she was a child she wanted to be three things: an artist, a successful bush woman, and be able to grow native plants. Having had previous careers as art teacher and outback tour guide, as well as her current nursery career she can safely say she has achieved her life goals – an amazing feat!

Business will carry on as usual at the nursery, with Rose continuing on the project with the assistance of former long-term nursery volunteer Ryan Little.

NGT wishes Yvonne all the best for her new role and big move! Thank you for all your hard work.
