We want you! (To help us plant 13,000 seedlings)

Planting season is here, and we have two large community planting events coming up. We would love to see lots of you come along!

First up is our annual planting and camping event at Eaglehawk Waterhole on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of August 2019. This year we will be planting 7,000 seedlings over three days as part of our 20 Million Trees project. Eaglehawk Waterhole is NGT’s first Habitat Restoration Reserve and is a beautiful place – definitely worth a visit if you haven’t yet been!

You’re welcome to come for as many days as you would like. We’d love you to join us camping at Eaglehawk if you’re keen to stay overnight. It’s a family-friendly event, so children are welcome.

You’ll need to bring food, water, sturdy shoes/boots, weather-appropriate clothing and gloves. If you’re staying overnight, bring camping gear and plenty of water, as there’s no potable water at Eaglehawk. There will be a BBQ dinner provided on one of the days, for those who are staying overnight.

If you’d like to go, but are not keen to drive, there is the possibility of carpooling. If you’re interested, please let us know which day/s you would like to go and where you need transport from, and we’ll try and organise something.

Please RSVP by Tuesday 30th July if you’re planning on camping, via ">email or telephone 08 8797 8596.

Our second planting event will be a two-day community event at Mount Burr Swamp on the 9th and 10th of August 2019. We will be planting 6,000 seedlings as part of our 20 Million Trees program. These will be single day events, so no camping overnight.

Mount Burr Swamp is quickly changing in appearance through the hard work our staff and volunteers. This is a great chance to come and see the transformation of the swamp, and contribute to the revegetation work being done.

Friday 9th August will be run as part of our Fieldwork Friday program, with everyone meeting at the NGT Mount Gambier office at 9.00 am to head out to Mount Burr Swamp together. We will take the seedlings out to Mount Burr Swamp and get started on planting. We will travel to Mount Burr Swamp together in an NGT vehicle (places limited), although you are welcome to travel there in your own vehicle if preferred.

On Saturday 10th August, we will be at Mount Burr Swamp from 9.oo am to 3.00 pm, and will spend the whole day planting. There will be a BBQ lunch provided. There may be the possibility of getting a lift with NGT staff from Mount Gambier on the Saturday if required, please contact us to discuss.

Both planting days are family-friendly events and we’d love to see kids and younger people join us.

Please bring sturdy boots/gumboots, weather-appropriate clothing, gloves, water and snacks/lunch. RSVP by Wednesday 7th August, and if you’re attending on the 10th, please specify any dietary requirements.

If you would like more information or to RSVP for either event please ">email us or telephone 08 8797 8596.
