Now they are back on the mainland, where should I look for Orange-bellied Parrots?

Are you keen on finding an Orange-bellied Parrot but not sure where to start? Have a look at this video. As we couldn’t run our annual OBP-workshop, we are working on some educational videos for new and existing OBP enthusiasts. This one is talking about suitable OBP habitat.

This year we also cannot ask volunteers to help search the coastal regions in Victoria during the official survey weekends. Instead we are asking anyone who knows of any suitable habitat near their own home to keep an eye out for the Orange-bellied Parrots throughout the mainland winter season. With the highest numbers of wild birds in over a decade, the chances of seeing one is a little higher than what it has been for a while. Have a read here about this year’s confirmed sighting in south-west Victoria.

If you think you have possibly seen an OBP, or are after some more help with keeping an eye out on you property, please get in touch!

The OBP project is supported by Glenelg Hopkins CMA and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
