Mount Vandyke (Victoria)

Help us secure the Mount Vandyke Restoration Reserve…

Mount Vandyke (traditionally known as Banbangil) is set to become NGT’s 8th Restoration Reserve and sees us embarking on a very exciting journey and different type of restoration project – one that puts some of our threatened small mammal fauna (which is a topic we have spoken about for a long time at NGT) in the spotlight.

While normally a modestly sized 85 acre block with a long history of farming and a more recent phase of commercial blue-gum forestry, would not necessarily attract our attention, it is the location of Mt Vandyke that offers some tantalizing possibilities.

To read more detailed information about the project at Mount Vandyke, including our initial focal mammal species, please follow this link.

Initial focal species: Southern Brown Bandicoot, Long-nosed Potoroo, and Eastern Quoll.

But no matter how exciting the possibilities, to secure Mt Vandyke while we had the chance, NGT has taken out a loan.

Our simple goal is to try to repay this debt before the project moves into its exciting implementation phase, so that it doesn’t become a drain on our limited operating finances or hamper our ability to get on with other future important work.

Matching your donations, dollar for dollar

Finally, thanks to some amazing people who have come forward that are willing to match donations (including a large international donor from the USA), plus some donated and other funds already set aside by NGT to put towards our next land purchase project, we also have a plan to accelerate the process of paying off the loan.

Every donation, until the land purchase debt is paid off, will now be matched by these generous commitments, dollar for dollar.

So for example, if you donate $50, then $100 will be paid off the loan balance, or if you donate $5000, then $10,000 will be paid off the loan, and so on – until the loan is fully paid off.

All project supporters will receive monthly updates on the balance of the loan via the NGT email newsletter.

To help us kick-start this innovative restoration project, by donating towards the Mt Vandyke land purchase fundraiser, please choose one of the payment options on this page.
