Goolwa pipis – New video showcases this iconic species
The Great Goolwa Cockle Challenge aims to engage and educate recreational fishers and the wider community whilst promoting the Goolwa Cockle and our coastal environment: A video has been produced showcasing this iconic species, including Indigenous, ecological, research and social aspects. Please take a look below! We’d love for you to share the video with your networks.
While the 2020/21 cockle season has finished (the season runs from November 1 until May 31 annually), we may still find some more tagged cockles that provide information on travel distances and growth rates (during the next cockle season). The video was produced by Aquasave-Nature Glenelg Trust, funded by the Coast Protection Board and supported by Alexandrina Council, SA Shorebirds, and the Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal Corporation.
