Love birds and nature? Join our upcoming Nature Festival event in SA’s Fleurieu

Birds, Bats and Bogs of the Fleurieu Peninsula – Nature Festival Event October 11th 2026

If you love birds, whether you know nothing about them, or are an accomplished birdo, join us on a bird walk for the Nature Festival. During the event on October 11th. we will wander through a private conservation property, guided by bird experts and the landholders themselves, hearing about bird ID and the restoration journey of the property. The event is co-hosted by NGT and the Fleurieu Swamp Restoration Network – a group of landholders caring for these rare swamps on their properties.

This is a rare opportunity to see some great bird life and learn about private land conservation, as well as the important ecosystem services birds provide to farming systems. As part of the South Australian Nature Festival, participants will join landholders and a bird expert on a bird walk. After the walk we will gather at Yundi Nature Conservancy for a light meal and learn all about birds and the ecosystem services they provide to farming systems. The evening session will have the addition of a bat talk and demonstration of bat calls on a bat call recorder. There will be an early morning session from 7:30 to 11:30am (including brunch around the fire), and an evening session from 5pm – 9:30pm (including supper and bat call observations around the fire).
