May update for the Wirey Swamp land purchase – we’ve just passed the half way mark!

The Wirey Swamp land purchase fundraiser has taken a great leap forward in May, as we’ve crossed the half way mark towards fully covering the cost of Stage 2!

Stage 2 Loan Repayment Progress (at 27th May 2026)0%

We are still hoping to finalise all land purchase costs, by repaying the land purchase loan in full before the end of June, saving precious funds from being lost to loan interest, and allowing us to press ahead with the next steps of the restoration project (and other potential future projects) without this liability hampering our efforts. Once we reach that goal, Stage Two will formally become part of NGT’s newest permanent reserve.

All remaining donations are now being matched (and hence doubled) as a result of a new arrangement with New Forests and Timberlands Pacific – additional plantation forest industry partners who have jumped on board as direct financial supporters of the project. So now would be a fantastic time to lend your support as the end of financial year approaches – if you are able to chip in – with New Forests and Timberlands Pacific matching your donation, dollar for dollar, before the end of June.

All donors will be invited to future events and activities at the site, with the restoration journey set to soon begin.
