Measuring up the community nursery site and welcoming Alix to NGT

After a brief visit a few weeks ago to help set-up her major project with us (survey sites for the Eared Worm Lizard), Alix Baltais is now officially a full-time part of the NGT team for the rest of this year.

Alix comes from the University of Queensland, and is undertaking her 3rd year University work placement with NGT over the next 4 months. On her first day on Monday, Cath and I spent some time introducing Alix to the region – a process that will continue as she gets out and about on project work over the coming weeks.

Before we headed out bush, Cath and Alix also gave me a hand measuring up the Cross-border Community Nursery site at Vansittart Park, generously made available by the City of Mount Gambier for NGT to lease over the coming years for this project.

While the image below shows the site looking a little tired, we are really looking forward to starting its transformation over the coming months – we just need a little more time to navigate the paperwork before we can get under way! Needless to say, as the process unfolds, we will keep you up to date with our progress.
