NGT Out and about – Photos from the field in December

Firstly, Lachie shares a view over Walker Swamp to the Grampians, taken on Christmas Eve. You can clearly see the bushfire smoke in the background. As we write, this bushfire is still burning in the Grampians National Park and is yet to be brought under control.

There’s been lots of wetland and waterway surveys and explorations going on, in Pick Swamp (Piccaninnie Ponds CP), Green Swamp (Southern Grampians region) and the Crawford River (Western Victoria).

Pick Swamp (photo 2 below), previously resembled a dry cow paddock in 2007, prior to restoration of water levels, but as you can see now, it requires a good pair of waders to traverse!
