Our popular Bird ID Course is back — Join us in Robe this autumn
The popular Bird Identification Course run by NGT’s Senior Ecologist Greg Kerr, is coming to Robe, SA this Autumn.

In conjunction with the Limestone Coast Landscape Board (SA), NGT is offering this comprehensive 10-session course free to the public. You may remember seeing this course advertised in previous newsletters, as Greg has delivered similar courses throughout South Australia and western Victoria. The course is designed to build the skills and confidence of novice twitchers but may also be of interest to more experienced bird watchers who want to extend their knowledge and skills. If you were sitting on the fence about attending last year or couldn’t make it, now is your chance, with only 20 places available.
Each session combines a field component and an indoor workshop, over four hours, one evening per week. You will get first-hand field experience in bird identification in a variety of habitat types and learn to identify around 300 bird species by sight, call, behaviour and habitat use. The course also covers avian classification, anatomy, ecology, and behaviour. By the end of the ten-week course you will be able to confidently conduct two-hectare/20-minute surveys and submit your results through a phone app. called Birdata. If this is of interest to you, we urge you to book now as only 20 places are available for each course. You must be able to commit to attending all ten sessions.
