NGT’s 3rd anniversary, and the region’s very own living treasure – Kath Alcock – turns 90!
Happy new year everyone, and welcome back to the blogs for 2015!
It is hard to believe, but today, the 16th of January 2015, marks exactly 3 years since NGT formally appeared on the environmental scene in Victoria and SA. Time and has simply flown by, and it is by reflecting at moments like this that you realise we have certainly come a long way in a short space of time. Thanks to you all for your part in making NGT a success! With some exciting projects in the pipeline, we’ll continue to do our very best to make a practical difference for our regional environment over the year ahead.
In other significant news, last weekend, on Sunday the 11th of January (along with NGT’s Bryan Haywood, and a wide range of other people from around the region and a few from further afield) I had the pleasure of attending Kath Alcock’s 90th Birthday Party in Naracoorte.

Not only is Kath an inspiration to all of us with an interest in the Australian bush, given her lifelong amateur (but I might add professional standard) interest in botany, art and nature; but she also just happens to be one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. As well as a good chance to catch up with Kath, it was also really nice to chat to a number of other great people I haven’t seen in a while, like Jack and Pat Bourne, Kerry Gilkes, John Barrie and John Samuel-White.

What a fantastic achievement to reach 90 years of age, while continuing to give so much enjoyment to those around you, by generously sharing your knowledge and artistic talents – we all appreciate you Kath!
