Introducing new staff members – Lauren Creasey and Taylar Pay

Lauren relocated from Melbourne to Victoria’s South West coast to pursue her keen interest in ecology and conservation. After completing her Bachelor of Environmental Science and Marine Biology at Deakin University in Warnrambool, she has joined NGT as a Graduate Ecologist, applying and expanding her ecological knowledge of wetland and freshwater systems.

She is interested in fish population dynamics, ecosystem connectivity and wetland restoration. Her background in film and documentary production complements her passion for promoting environmental awareness and education. She has also been involved in PhD research with Traditional Owners on cultural uses of seaweeds and worked on invasive algal monitoring assessments across Port Phillip Bay.  Lauren is based in Warrnambool (Vic).

Although Taylar has been on the books here at NGT for many years, undertaking aquatic field work on a casual basis, he’s recently taken up an official position as Project Ecologist, based in Mildura (SA).

Taylar has worked for over 10 years as an ecologist in the freshwater research industry. Working on a range of projects including threatened fish, vegetation assessments, long-term monitoring and community engagement. Taylar has a keen interest in the environment, and what can be done through on-ground works, and the involvement of traditional owners and the broader community. Taylar has delivered a Conservation and Ecosystem Management course through the local TAFE and believes in knowledge sharing as a key to management success. When Taylar is not working on projects you will find him either on the Baseball Diamond or fishing for the elusive Murray Cod.

You can read about all our wonderful staff on the NGT website.
