Dawn Chorus: A morning of birdsong, Sun 19 May, to be a truly global event

The next Biodiversity ‘Up close’ event is set to take place in a couple of weeks time on Sunday 19 May, and you will be rewarded for waking up a little earlier and making the most of this beautiful part of the day.

Join BirdLife South East SA for a morning of birdsong, learn about bush bird calls, ID and we’ll keep an eye out for the elusive Powerful Owl – the largest owl in Australia. Click here for the low resolution flyer of the event

FREE, family friendly, all ages event that includes a cooked breakfast for those who register (click here).

Our Dawn chorus coincides with BirdWatch Ireland’s Annual National Dawn Chorus Day – the first time this has happened – which will make the day a truly global event! We will swap choruses with our Irish counterparts and aim to play the local and Irish choruses on the radio before and/or after the event.

What: South East SA’s Dawn Chorus: A morning of birdsong

When: Sunday 19 May

Time: 6:00 am (SA time). Activities conclude approx. 9:00 am.

More activities can be scheduled afterwards, particularly as this weekend is also Round 1 surveys for the annual Orange-bellied Parrot winter counts.

Where: Snow Gum Native Forest Reserve, Sea coast Hill Rd, Caroline Forest (directions on the flyer)
