Where NGT Works

NGT is leading efforts to recovery the Murray Crayfish

Nature Glenelg Trust works across the four states of south-eastern Australia, where the vast majority of our projects and ecological restoration work occurs.

In addition to delivering a wide range of general biodiversity services and projects, we have specialist aquatic ecological staff undertaking surveys, monitoring and recovery actions for freshwater fish and crayfish throughout the southern Murray Darlin Basin in NSW, Victoria and SA, and this works also extends into other regions of SA, Victoria and Tasmania.

We operate a regional community nursery in Mt Gambier (SA) to grow plants for biodiverse revegetation projects.

We work closely with a wide range of partners in the regions where we are active. For example, in the Green Triangle region that straddles the SA/Vic border for instance, we have a strong working relationship with the plantation forest industry, advising them on environmental management matters to enable them to meet their stewardship and certification requirements. In that region, we also undertake a wide range of on-ground environmental works, revegetation projects and weed control.

NGT seeks opportunities to work with and support First Nations people in all the regions where we work, and are proud to be part of many projects that involve Traditional Owners in the care and management of Country.

The Rowan Swamp Restoration Trial – installed by NGT in 2022 on in a Parks Victoria managed reserve near Benalla.

Our specialist wetland ecologists undertake wetland restoration investigations and works across all land tenures in southern SA, across Victoria and Tasmania, and into NSW.

NGT’s Restoration Reserves occur in the regions situated between Melbourne and Adelaide, and provide opportunities for the community to volunteer and participate in the restoration, care and management of these high profile ecological restoration demonstration sites.

As a result of our mission to fill gaps, NGT’s work is diverse and varies significantly depending on the ecological needs of the places where we work.

By invitation, our specialist staff will assist with projects in other parts of Australia or the world. Please contact us () for more information.
