More unusual biodiversity observations!

After last month’s story attracted wide interest, the unusual butterfly observations keep coming in, especially in the mid-North, Riverland and Adelaide regions of South Australia. Vicki Kschammer (from Marrabel, Kapunda) recently shared some observations with two great piccies below:

And in the sunny south-east or Limestone Coast, I can share two photos taken by one of our amazing volunteers Helen, from her field trips of late. The male Common Brown butterfly pictured below would have to be one of the latest flying ones in southern Australia, and by gee does it look it. Normally they cease flying at Penambol CP (near Mt. Gambier) by the first week in March (and sometimes before this). There are only a few records into the second and third weeks of March during years of high rainfall summers (go figure!). She also shared this amazing photo of Spotted Lichen/Tiger Moths on some eucalypt blossom. Thanks Helen!
