NGT Out and about — Photos from the field in April
It has been another busy month for NGT staff – out and about across south-eastern Australia!
Firstly, Senior NGT Ecologist Ayesha had a stall in the Cavandish Redgum Festival. The multi-day event includes nature activities, art, music, workshops and more. Set on the banks of the Wannon River, it was a great opportunity for Ayesha to show off the wonderful waterbugs that inhabit the river.
NGT’s Grassland Restoration Ecologist, John, recently had a group of students from Port Fairy’s University of the Third Age visit Mount Vandyke Restoration Reserve. This was their second visit looking at the catchment of the Fitzroy River, which begins in the surrounding Cobboboonee Forest. John explained the process of grassland restoration he has been undertaking at the reserve and our future plans for the site.
Lastly – Jono (NGT Senior Ecologist) sent in this fantastic shot from some vegetation surveys around the Coorong and Lower Lakes. He says “long hours meant that we caught some spectacular sunrises and sunsets. This pic was taken on the mudflats near Parnka Point. When the sky turns this shade, it’s time to put down the clipboard and enjoy it, then head back to camp!”
