NGT Out and about — Photos from the field in June

The team has been out and about as usual, doing a range of activities. Here’s a snapshot from this month. Click a photo below to enlarge and then click through them using the side arrows.
First up, Lachie shared this photo of Lauren doing a post-bushfire assessment of an area of the Wannon River in Western Victoria, near the Grampians (below left), and Melissa snapped this beautiful photo of emus in the mist at Walker Swamp (below right).

NGT’s Jess recently visited the Kindy Room at First Choice Early Education Centre in Mt Gambier to teach the kids about bugs and birds!

Using the microscope we looked closer at some of the features of different bugs. Jess also took in ‘Walter’ our taxidermy Wedge-tailed Eagle and a Little Penguin to show the kids.

Scott has been out doing more fish monitoring. He says that the added bonus of Fish monitoring surveys is sometimes in the opportunistically caught by-catch, but not always (i.e. algae!).
