NGT Out and about — Photos from the field in October
Melissa found this charming little chap at Walker Swamp recently. Seems he/she has woken up from winter slumber full of energy.
While Surveying Catfish (below left) at Sandilong Creek in NW Victoria, the Mildura team had some healthy by-catch. Here’s Jimmy with some Murray and Long-necked Turtles.

Ayesha has started visiting wetland sites for the Wetland Restoration on Private Land program. The swamp daisies (Allittia cardiocarpa) were in full bloom when she visited this wetland in the southwest Wimmera. This wetland is being managed for its conservation values by the landholder and doesn’t need any restoration work.
There are not many remaining populations of River Blackfish in the SA Murray Darling Basin region. The local aquatic team (Cory, Matt, Max, Ida and Sylvia) have been surveying them to check on the population. You can read more about our work with River Blackfish here. This survey was funded by Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu.
