NGT welcomes Angela Jones as Nursery Coordinator – and upcoming plant sale!
Angela Jones is a recent new addition to the NGT team in Mt Gambier, joining us as Community Nursery Coordinator. Ange is a lifelong local to the region, having grown up at Tantanoola and also spent a lot of time at Carpenter Rocks in her youth.
Ange has more than a decade of experience in native plant nurseries, through her involvement in ForestrySA’s Biodiversity Program with Newbery Park and Glenburnie Primary Schools. Ange is also a keen birder, and you may see her out and about with BirdLife. She says her favourite bird is “the next one!”
Keen to get acquainted with our regular nursery volunteers, Ange has scheduled her first Fieldwork Friday event for next week (this event is already booked out, but get in touch if you’d like to hear about future events).
After a couple of order cancellations this year we have surplus native seedlings that we’d love to see go to good homes. As such, Ange’s first week has involved starting a spring clean of the nursery in preparation for a plant sale! Details are yet to be confirmed, but the sale will include advanced seedlings of trees and shrubs like gum trees, wattles, and bottlebrushes, as well as smaller plants ideal for gardens. If you’d like to be sent further details, send Ange an email here. NGT would also like to thank outgoing Nursery Officer, Ryan Little, for his hard work and dedication over several years.
