NGT welcomes Rowena Hamer as part of the AYAD Internment Program
Last Saturday I welcomed Rowena Hamer to Mount Gambier, where she will be working with NGT for a 4 week volunteer placement as part of the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) Internment Program. During this time, she will be helping NGT with a range of ecological projects, and sharing her insights and expertise gained from a recently completed overseas assignment as a Wildlife Conservation Officer based in China under the AYAD Program. Welcome Rowena – having you as a part of the team will be a great experience all round!
Co-incidentally, with NGT as a new partner in the AYAD Program, I was invited to attend a farewell function on Wednesday night in Adelaide for the next group of AYAD volunteers – soon to head overseas on their professional assignments. It was a great evening, with former Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer sharing some words of wisdom and humorous anecdotes with the eager volunteers, prior to their departure in a couple of weeks. For those that are interested – and it is worth a look – you can find out more about the AYAD Program here.
