Out and about talking Walker Swamp… from Ararat to Hamilton, and over the airwaves!

Over the past few weeks, since the announcement of the project at Walker Swamp, Greg and I have been busy travelling around meeting with some wonderful people from community groups and service clubs – to talk about NGT’s wetland restoration work and introduce them to the project at Walker Swamp. So far, we’ve been to meet with seven different groups in Ararat, Pomonal, Willaura, Victoria Valley and Hamilton – and we have a few more to go!

It is also been fantastic to meet so many people in our community who willingly give their time to these groups. Something that I have really enjoyed at the Lions Club meetings we have attended, is hearing the Code of Ethics that is read aloud to group members at these meetings, and then learning about how the groups turn these words into action with their activities to help others. Good people, quietly going about their business and doing wonderful work to benefit our community – what an inspiration!

The news of the Walker Swamp project has also been spreading via the local paper (see below) and over ABC Radio in Ballarat.

You can listen to that initial ABC interview that launched the project on the 11th of May here:
