This image of a Yellow-footed Antechinus (Antechinus flavipes) was taken by NGT’s Mark Bachmann, near Rennick in Victoria.
The Yellow-footed Antechinus is a partly arboreal (tree-climbing) carnivorous marsupial that – like other Antechinus – is known for a breeding strategy that results in the annual “die-off” of all males in the population after their synchronised breeding phase – which means no parental duties for dad!
