NGT Out and about — Photos from the field in February

Ben recently visited the Coorong area and captured these shots of Red-necked Stint – which fly all the way from breeding ground in Siberia and Alaska! He also photographed this lovely large flock of the endemic Australian wader the Banded Stilt.

Angela, our NGT Community Nursery Coordinator recently took a group of volunteers down to Hutt Bay to collect native seed, and to clean up the beach. A great day out and a fantastic job done – Thank you team!

The iconic Brolga are always an exciting bird to see, especially with their large size – averaging 1.12 metres tall! Bryan photographed this flock of Brolga using restored habitat at NGT’s Mt Burr Swamp Restoration Reserve.

Just for fun, our insect expert Bryan shared this video – Bryan says “After capturing its prey, this Robber Fly landed on the outside of my passenger side window. I was just driving off when I noticed it was still on the window at 60km/hr. It was in for a wild ride!!”
