Sylvia to share ‘Fish Tales’ at Nature Festival — A sneak peak into an urban river in Adelaide

Have you ever wanted a closer look at Adelaide’s urban River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari? As part of the 2025 Nature Festival, Green Adelaide is hosting a great event this week in Adelaide featuring NGT’s own Dr Sylvia Zukowski. The event features an opportunity to don waders and get into the water, helping to drag in nets as Sylvia (NGT) and Lachlan Pink (Green Adelaide) explain the catch and share the story of how the southern purple-spotted gudgeon was returned to the River after a long extinction here.

If the full immersion is not your style, sit back and listen to the ‘Fish Tales’ as the hosts tell you all about the work being done to restore and protect the River. You can also have a go at weaving aquatic plants into jute mats ready to be planted into the river to improve habitat. All ages welcome, and no experience necessary.
