Upcoming butterfly workshops
You may have read in a previous newsletter that we have some more butterfly monitoring workshops coming up this spring and summer in the Limestone Coast, Mount Lofty Ranges and western Victoria. Following on from the successful workshops and invertebrate projects running in the region, NGT is collaborating with Butterfly Conservation SA to run training workshops for citizen scientists to help with gathering data on our beautiful butterflies and sun-moths. The method (as explained here) follows a worldwide adopted technique called a Pollard Walk, whereby participants walk a regular route/track, identify and count all the butterflies or target moths they see. Please register your interest in participating in a workshop near you by emailing NGT at .
If you’re in Adelaide and interested in butterflies, moths and sun-moths there’s a workshop coming up very soon (Saturday 8th November) – but places are limited. See the flyer below for details and email Bryan to register asap.

If you’re interested in butterfly monitoring, this video from Bryan Haywood may also be of interest to you. This site will be one of the sites visited during local workshops: Carpenter Rocks Conservation Park – a gem in full bloom at the moment and a great spot for butterflies.
This project has been supported by a Grass Roots Grant from the Limestone Coast Landscape Board, Southern Bent-wing Bat Recovery team, Butterfly Conservation SA Inc, and the Friends of Mt Gambier Area Parks.
