We are hiring! Join the NGT team as a Restoration Ecologist in south-western Victoria

Have you been waiting for an opportunity to join the NGT family? We don’t advertise positions very often but we are currently looking to add to the restoration ecology expertise of our south-western Victorian team, based out of our Warrnambool office at Deakin University.

We are implementing a range of exciting projects with a focus on restoring wetlands across the landscape and are looking for the right person to join us. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced project manager/ecologist with at least five years experience in habitat restoration, preferably including wetlands or other aquatic ecosystems, but we are happy to hear from ecologists with experience in other landscapes. Experience with hydrological restoration or a good understanding of wetland hydrological function would be a great advantage but we recognise that excellent communication skills and a track record working with private landholders are even more important.

NGT offers a competitive salary, flexible working conditions and the chance to work with an energetic and committed team dedicated to achieving great on-ground outcomes. We have the opportunity to negotiate a full or part time role for the right applicant (0.6 – 1.0 FTE).

Some of our staff collected together at Mt Burr Swamp at our recent annual staff workshop

We are also looking for staff with complementary skills in grassland restoration, native vegetation assessment and bird monitoring and may offer additional part time position(s) to applicants with appropriate skills and experience. All positions have the opportunity to work across NGT’s network of restoration reserves in western Victoria.

At NGT, cultural fit is an important consideration and we highly value commitment to the environment, honesty, having a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to work collaboratively.

Flexible working arrangements, including working from home, are options for these positions, but given the location of projects, our preference is for applicants who already live in, or are prepared to relocate to, south-western Victoria.

Does working with a committed team of experienced ecologists, delivering real, positive change for the environment and threatened species, and getting to work in some of Victoria’s most magnificent locations sound appealing, or do you know someone who you think would be a great fit? If so, more information, including instructions on how to apply, can be found by clicking the download link below, or by contacting Melissa Herpich (Ecological Programs Manager) via email or phone (0408 230 001).

Applications close on Friday 13th February.
