Narrawong Kang-o-meerteek small town transformation

The Kang-o-meerteek project is part of the Small Town Transformation initiative, which encourages communities to embrace a creative vision in their transformation. Kang-o-meerteek (Dhauwurd Wurrung for ‘mountain to sea’) is a public art project about cultural stories and meeting places in Narrawong. As a central feature, a major Indigenous sculpture will be installed on Mt Clay (Cart Mountain), overlooking the town of Narrawong and Portland Bay. Regional Arts Victoria manages the Small Town Transformations program, which is part of the Labor Government’s $20 million Regional Arts package in the 2015-16 State Budget. The aim of the project is to transform the physical, artistic, cultural and social landscape across Narrawong through exploration and development of artistic ability through community engagement, partnership exploration, enhancement and connectivity with innovative artists and art forms.

Late last year Nature Glenelg Trust transitioned from being a project partner to being the project lead.  We have now appointed Jodie Honan as project manager and are looking forward to sharing some exciting aspects of this project as they emerge over the course of 2018.  As a result you’ll be seeing more about upcoming events from us.  You can also go to the Kangomeerteek project page or checkout the facebook and instagram pages for more information and upcoming events.  Alternatively, feel free to contact Jodie via email (
