The Mt Vandyke safe haven fence is nearing completion… and you are invited to join us on-site in May!

Mount Vandyke Open Day: Meet the Ecologists

It has been a massive autumn of on-ground works across NGT, and the construction of the new predator proof fence at Mt Vandyke / Banbangil is just one part of that wider story. Mike McFall and his team of specialist fencing contractors have been ably assisted by NGT’s Tom and Rosemary, as the important fence building work is now nearing completion. For an example section of the double floppy-top, double apron, two metre high fence design, please see the image below.

We have an Open Day planned for the 14th May, which will be the first public opportunity to visit Mount Vandyke since it became NGT’s latest restoration project site. Mt Vandyke is set to become a large-scale grassland restoration project and a modestly-sized small mammal safe haven combined, embedded in a wider, critically important natural landscape.

Join us for a hosted walk around the site with NGT ecologists, to learn about different aspects of the work underway, as this project moves into its exciting next phase. Stay for an informal chat afterwards, with afternoon tea provided by the campfire.
