ABC story on “Bringing Back the Birds of Bangham”

The day that I caught up with Kate Hill at Eaglehawk Waterhole, she also interviewed Cassie Hlava, an ecologist with Natural Resources South East who is co-ordinating a habitat restoration project in the Bangham district.

A nice story that has resulted from their interview has been published on the ABC South East website. You can also download a pdf of the story here.

Cassie will be having quite a bit to do with NGT, as her project is helping us to begin the process of active revegetation and restoration in some of the more degraded portions of Eaglehawk Waterhole over the next few years. As a first step, her project is also helping to identify those areas requiring active restoration through survey and mapping, followed by the development of a restoration plan.

NGT is grateful for the support provided by DEWNR (Natural Resources South East) which, in addition to major funding contributions to support the purchase of the property from other partners (a Significant Environmental Benefit grant from the Native Vegetation Council and funding from the Nature Foundation SA Inc.), has got this habitat restoration project off to a flying start!

Other private landholders in the Bangham district interested in participating in the native vegetation corridors project can contact Cassie Hlava on (08) 8735 1169 or .
