After big progress in April, now we need your help to reach the target for Wirey Swamp!

Since our last update at the end of March, some incredibly generous NGT supporters have helped us take a big leap forward towards the funding target that will enable us to create the Wirey Swamp Restoration Reserve. As we’ve discussed in the newsletter over recent months, this new project will enhance habitat for threatened wetland species in a strategic location adjacent to a Parks Victoria reserve, near a key flocking location for the threatened Brolga in south-eastern Australia.

As a result of an amazing team effort so far, we’ve received 70 donations, totalling $187,375.

After dollar-for-dollar matching by our plantation industry partners (OFO and ABP), that adds up to a total so far raised of $374,750 – or 62% of our $600,000 target.

Land Purchase Funding Target Progress (at 22nd April 2025)0%

If you have been thinking about chipping in, now would be a great time to help out, as we are hoping we’ll reach the target well ahead of when the land purchase is scheduled for settlement at the end of June.

Please also be assured that every donation – large and small – adds up and makes a big difference, and that NGT proudly guarantees that 100% of your donation will be directed towards the land purchase.

For more detailed information about the site and the project, please visit this page, or to donate, please click this link or the button below. And, if you haven’t already, take a look at the fantastic video, put together in-house by NGT ecologist Lauren Creasy, for an overview of the Wirey Swamp project and our future vision for the site.

Every dollar donated between now and the end of June will be matched by our plantation forestry industry partners, ABP and OFO, doubling your impact towards our target!

All donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible.

The creation of the Wirey Swamp Restoration Reserve is an initiative of Nature Glenelg Trust,
with the generous assistance of NGT’s strategic supporters, and our plantation forest industry partners:
