First monthly update on the Wirey Swamp land purchase fundraiser
In our newsletter last month, we announced NGT’s exciting new plan to create the Wirey Swamp Restoration Reserve, to enhance habitat at the site for Brolga and a host of other wetland dependent threatened species.
In the flurry of media interest that followed our announcement of the project for World Wetlands Day 2025, I was invited to speak on multiple ABC Radio Programs. The one that I have chosen to share with you here is my interview with David Astle on ABC 774 Melbourne, which broadcasts around Victoria, from his Evenings Program on Tuesday the 4th February.
In the weeks that have followed we’ve had a great early response, with 38 donations totalling $30,315.
After matching contributions by our plantation industry partners (OFO and ABP), this equates to a total raised so far of $60,630 – or just over 10% of our target – so we’re off to a great start!
For more detailed information about the site and the project, please visit this page, or to donate, please click this link or the button below. And, if you haven’t already, check out the fantastic video put together in-house by our talented Lauren Creasy. It gives a great overview of the Wirey Swamp project including drone footage and our future vision for the site.
Please remember that every dollar donated between now and the end of June will continue to be matched by the plantation forestry industry, doubling your impact towards our target!
All donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible.
The creation of the Wirey Swamp Restoration Reserve is an initiative of Nature Glenelg Trust,
with the generous assistance of NGT’s strategic supporters, and our plantation forest industry partners:
