NGT stories feature in Wetlands Australia magazine, plus sharing the February view over Walker Swamp
World Wetlands Day comes around each year in February, and the Australian Government continues to mark the occasion by promoting the value of wetlands by sharing stories from across the country through the Wetlands Australia online magazine. The full 35th Edition can be viewed here.
This time around, NGT featured in two stories, which you can read by following the links below:
- Exploring past, present and emerging custodianship at Mt Burr Swamp – by Bryan Haywood
- Connecting communities to wetland country at Walker Swamp and beyond – by Lisa McIntyre
And while we are talking about Walker Swamp, we’re expecting the wetland to hold water through the autumn again for the third consecutive year (which is every year so far) since restoration works occurred. This site is now an important summer/autumn refuge habitat for wetland species (like the brolga pair with their chick we have been seeing out there recently) in an otherwise drying landscape.
If you are wondering how it looks out there at the moment, you can enjoy the February 2022 view below.
