Photo of the month – restored wetland habitat worth fighting for .. literally!

During a follow-up visit to a wetland restoration site in south-west Victoria, NGT’s Lachie encountered quite a display – as captured below.

It is a worthwhile trip to see a pair of brolgas, not to mention witnessing a bit of a scuffle with a pair of Black Swans!  It’s good to see this wetland is ‘hot property’ since being restored, and is now in high demand. The works are part of a larger wetland restoration program across the Glenelg Plain, extending from Dergholm in Victoria to the South Australian border. You can see the full interaction in the picture series below.

We would love to hear from any land holders in the Glenelg Plain who are interested in wetland restoration. Feel free to get in touch to find out more.

This project has been funded by the Victorian Government’s Biodiversity Response Planning program and is helping to ensure that Victoria’s natural environment is healthy, valued and actively cared for.
