Crowd gathers for official opening of Swan Reserve

Last Friday, 28 November 2014, saw the much anticipated official opening of the newly redeveloped Swan Reserve, Warrnambool. A crowd of about 50 locals attended the ceremony, which was opened by Elder Robbie Lowe who explained the Indigenous history of the site. The redevelopment includes a new playground, meeting place, and one of NGT’s eight native plant display gardens.

The collaborative nature of the redevelopment was highlighted by both Friends of Swan Reserve president Kevin Sparrow and mayor Michael Neoh, while two students from Warrnambool and Saint Joseph’s Primary Schools spoke of their appreciation of learning about the region’s Indigenous culture when they helped create the site’s message poles.
