Kicking off NGT’s next 10 years – plus a new employment opportunity coming soon…

Milestones have a habit of triggering a degree of self-reflection for us all, which is probably a good thing!

At NGT, we are no different, as we try to learn from what we’ve experienced so far, and make fresh plans for the future. After all, a lot has changed since we began 10 years ago…

Hence last year, in the lead up to our 10th anniversary, the NGT Board started a review process that is continuing but has already resulted in a few important changes. Simply, the goal of the review is to provide a platform that will set NGT up to be genuinely sustainable into the future. We recognise the need to move beyond a ‘start-up’ mindset and focus on what needs to come next – to continue the successful NGT story for the next 10 years, and beyond.

Some of the small but significant changes that have taken place so far include:

  • Recruiting a Senior Partnerships Advisor, Paula Thomson, who brings a wealth of experience in the complex world of philanthropy but understands NGT’s deeply held conviction to continue to base our relationships around being generous with our knowledge and helping others to gain a deep understanding of our work – so that we can work together to drive scientifically sound, positive, on-ground action.
  • Recently attracting very generous investment from the Ross Trust, who are funding a capacity building grant for the next two and a half years, which will allow NGT to recruit a part-time Business Manager type role for the organisation. Now that we employ 35 staff, and after operating on an extremely lean model for the past 10 years, this will allow us to improve our back-of-house business systems, internal staff support and Board support functions for the future.

In terms of the final point, we will soon be advertising, but if you (or someone you know) is passionate about NGT’s work and has experience in one or more of the following areas – HR, Finance, IT, Business Systems, Board Support – and would like to flag your interest in this role, then feel free to email me ().

You can send a covering letter as an EOI, explaining your skills, experience and interest in NGT’s work. The location where this role is to be based is negotiable.

To close, I will say that with a period of transformation ahead, I can also assure you that we will not change the nimble, innovative and creative way we tackle our work, nor our down-to-earth, common-sense and logical approach. We have a fantastic platform to build upon, and we’d love for you to stay with us and be part of the journey ahead – over the next 10 years and beyond!

Some of the NGT team and their families wrapping up 2021 – looking forward to another exciting decade ahead!
