NGT Staff update: welcome back Lauren Kivisalu!

After 17 months of being a busy mum on maternity leave, it’s great to be starting back with NGT this month, easing back in for one day a week on Thursdays. I’m looking forward to catching up with the team and the huge amount of projects they have been working on!

Before my return, I was lucky enough to take a quick break with my family to coastal New South Wales. It’s always exciting to see new environments, and particularly on this trip a new cohort of backyard birds. We were able to watch a male and female Satin Bowerbird out the window each day. While beautiful, the picture below was also a small reminder for us of the plastic pollution issues that to continue to impact on our environments.

Over the next few months I’ll be helping Nicole deliver the volunteer Orange-bellied Parrot winter surveys. I’ll also continue to work with the Narrawong District Primary School on a couple of very cool projects, including creating an indigenous garden and outdoor learning space… updates to come soon!
